The behaviour of your program suggests that it may be already hooked: when you submit it to dxwnd the kind of actions that should be required to make it working porperly in windowed mode seem to be activated twice: that holds both for image scaling (when the window is enlarged, the graphic is scaled too much and becomes even bigger) and for mouse coordinate scaling. Please, let me know if you had problems implementing the trick and if it works ok. This problem comes from one particular HOM&M2 release only: other releases such as the gold edition or the GOG release have a different graphic engine and don't suffer the same problem. Once done this, you'll see that in the configuration panel there will be a last rightmost "debug" tab: check the "Full RECT blit" option and the trick is done.Īlso, you should turn the Input "Correct mouse position" flag off to get a proper mouse handling. You can achieve that either by running "dxwnd /debug" at the command prompt, or by creating a shortcut to dxwnd and adding /debug in the program path. The problem likely depends on the fact that the game exe HEROES2W.EXE is not a real fullscreen application and tries to compensate internally for x,y coordinates, while dxwnd tries to do the same: the combined effect produces the mess you showed.Ī quick & dirty solution for the problem requires that you run dxwnd in debug mode: for this, you have to run dxwnd with the /debug command line argument.
